Motor shaft and gear mating

11/03/2007 2:15 PM

I am new to robotic, I am trying to mate a 6.35mm shaft with a gear of bore diameter of 10mm. I know there will be a gap therefore do u recommend i go machine shop and manufactor a peace to fullfill the gap? If there is a way to mate gear and motor shaft other than the one i mention, please inform me and showing website that sell gear that has 6.35mm bore diameter is good too.

Thanks in advance.

A bushing is the usual means of fitting an item with larger bore to a smaller shaft.

Not able to help here as the pitch diam. number and type of gear teeth, gear width, etc. would have to be taken into consideration.

There is more to consider such as how true does it need to be and does it need disassembly at all for other purposes.

I would go with a taper lock system as they are easy, cheap and very true.
