On my last phone I had a 128GB micro SD with the whole of Wikipedia and the whole of Gutenberg (60,000 books out of copyright) on it.

Sitting on my desk now I have a 2TB flash drive bought pre covid, imagine the damage that could be done if it catches a virus or worse still a viri!

Mid 80's I designed a telephone recorded info service with 9 services that could access 64MB (17 minutes) of pre-recorded audio .... made possible with 256x 256K chips ... which after a DRAM Factory fire cost me some $2900 to produce.

And then I can go today into my local stationery shop and purchase 2TB (in a choice of 4 colours) for $29. (No missing zeros) .. almost x32 the memory at just 1% of the mid 80's cost! Just plug into a USB 3.0 compatible terminal.

...and into the future we go, laughing all the way LOLOLOLOL!!!

The fantastic advance we have seen in hardware has been driven by the multitude of programmers striving to produce slower software. When the old computer gets too slow, we plop down bucks for a faster machine...
