The self destruction basicly turns the round into very tiny debris and is pretty much carried away by the wind. -The CIWS (the one on the ship) shoots 20mm tungsten armor penetrating bullets with NO self destruct, they will fall down back to earth. A strong military should only be looked on as only part of a tool of many tools for deterrence, and should always be look upon as that. other tools is a strong leadership.
A strong leadership and a strong military needs to have a balanced approach. One does not want to use the military loosely, nor does one want to use a Neville Chamberlain form of diplomacy of appeasement.

Not cherry picking since I mentioned many country’s, I used Scandinavia as an example.
The point I’m making,... a country that could afford its own military,... isn’t,... or more descriptive,... doesn’t have to, because the U.S. military is doing it.
and that’s changing,... take the Nordic Defense Force as the example I made. Where they are picking up more of their share for their own defense. And more so now because of heavily weighted and strong diplomacy, then when the article was written.

I have no idea what you mean we are not hurting, but it might be the difference between you and I. With myself being proactive and you being reactive. You just having realized the trend.
Also if you mean criminals in government are the career politicians, they are the ones making the money off of the military complex cash flow.
you need to remember the first obligation is to ourselves first and foremost. If we can’t sustain ourselves first, which with what is going on right now, we wont be able address or assist others.

Anyone who has been dove or waterfowl hunting knows how hard it is to hit a moving target.Doves fly at about 30 mph,ducks at about 60mph.And a duck is the master of vertical take off,going from zero to 60 mph in a millisecond (or so it seems).
These jets are flying at hundreds of mph,and it is a challenge even for radar guided guns,especially if the target is rapidly changing direction.It is amazing that they hit anything,however I did see a lag in initial target lead response,probably because of the velocity of the rounds vs target.
The rounds self destruct into paper-like debris if they don't hit the target,so no concern about downrange impacts.

Well the bullets slow down, the jet doesn't usually....but rockets on the other hand...not so much.....So bullets coming at you at mach 2 and you flying at the bullets at mach 2 = mach 4 approach speed...Not so easy to dodge..

From what I heard, when accidentally shooting yourself out of the air the bullets rarely hit you from behind. You overtake them in one vector or another.
