Redunduncy in DCS & PLC, Is there possible ? & at what Level Of Control ?

Yes, it is possible. Safety-rated PLC-based control systems are currently in use. Category 3 is common, Cat. 4 is possible. The PLC uses redundant processors manufactured by different vendors and all communication signals are checked and back-checked prior to processing. What are you trying to accomplish?

Electronic control systems for mass transit railways are backed up by supervisory interlocking in the UK. In that sense there is a level of redundancy.
