Parts for Fluke T5 1000 Tester

12/04/2020 8:35 AM

I have searched in vain to find a battery cover door for a Fluke T5 1000 electrical tester, but am unable to find it.

I have responded to Fluke on line, but they only want to sell, not provide parts, basically.

The Fluke part number for the door(cover) is 1626588.

I realize this is an older model, but it is a good one.Very tough, but not immune to over tightening of the battery cover screw by an overzealous employee.

All help is appreciated, and thanks in advance.

You might try a repair service. Here is one:

https://www.trescal.us/repair/fluke/t5-1000/fluke-t5-1000-repair

(I've never used them)

I had a similar problem, a camera with a broken battery compartment door. The place where I sent it had inoperative cameras that they used for parts that were unobtainable.

Maybe the repair place would sell you just the door if that is what you want.

I understand that model biggest drawback is that it has a problem with losing its battery cover...

This sounds like a perfect excuse to acquire a 3D printer.

I see that the printing date for ( T 5 1000 / T 5 600 ) instruction manual # 686953 is 1998 - 2001 . Could it be possible that a battery cover for an almost 20 year old multimeter may not be available. I checked online and a new unit can be had for about 150 clams.

This old meter has been through a lot of punishment.

It has been dropped on concrete from 20 ft up,dropped into an effluent stream, traveled through a curing oven, and run over by traffic;several vehicles.

It carries the scars and bruises from many encounters.

Amazingly,everything still works.

The cover was lost due to over tightening of the battery cover screw.

I have a new meter, but I wanted to restore this old warhorse to whole condition if possible due to sentimental reasons.

The repair facility linked to is asking too much for the cover, and Amazon has a whole used meter for about twice that price, which I may buy for spare parts to keep this old guy working.

I don't let my crew carry this one anymore,so it is officially retired, except for personal use.

Anyone with a 3D printer want to tackle this one?I don't know where to find the dimensions,so without them it would be nearly impossible.

Thanks to everyone that replied, and especially the links.

Do you still have the broken parts?

if you do, could you, or did you try using a Cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and glue them together.

I looked on several sites, for CAD drawing of a Fluke T5 1000, GRABCAD normally may have something like that, but to no avail.

I’m waiting for a parts for my 3D printer... but, the best material I could use is ABS,... the best material for my type of printer would be Carbon Fiber Reinforced ABS. Very strong, and somewhat impact resistant. But I’d have to get stainless nozzles, because that material is very abarsive, and I only have brass nozzles.

Thanks for the offer, but I do not have any of the old parts. It fell from the back of a line truck, and was run over by traffic.I retraced the route when I discovered it was missing, and found it on the shoulder of the road.It had a lot of road rash, the batteries were gone, and I never found the cover. The cover screw was still in place, and I could tell it had been over tightened by the last user(not me). It may have survived totally intact if not for the over torqued screw. It was all the way down to the last thread, which meant it had been tightened to the bottom, cracking the cover.

Surprisingly,it still worked and I taped the new batteries in with packing tape and it works just fine.It just doesn't look good.It will not be going on any more jobs because of the loss of voltage protection integrity. It is now sitting on the shelf in the shop.

I just cannot throw away old meters that have given good service, even the old analog ones, like Simpson and Triplett.

Thanks again for the offer of help.

I also put a small spot of hot glue at the ends and junction of the two batteries, and they are very stable.Removable if needed, and the clear packing tape is almost invisible.

Can hardly tell it from the front.

There's a stout man in a red costume who might be able to bring a new one down the chimney overnight on 24th-25th Dec, subject to an assessment of good behaviour over the last year, and assuming the reindeer can park safely on the roof...

I've really not been that good this year.I will probably just get coal.

I really don't want a new one, just to fix up an old workmate that has helped me make millions$.

Someone asked me why I was now broke, what did I do with all that money.

I told them that I spent most of it on wine, women, and song.

The rest of it,I just wasted.

I have a T5-600, and if I were in your shoes, I'd set up a search on Ebay for T5-1000/T5-600 "for parts" or "for repair". There seems to be a lot of these units out there, most still working, so if a "broke" one comes up for sale, you can probably pick it up pretty cheap. Setting up a search on Ebay will email you the search results, so you don't have to check the site all the time. You just have to be patient, waiting for one to come up for sale.
