Magnetic Gear

No noise, no friction, no contact, no wear....What are the weakest points in this design concept?

Brushes, bearings, magnets coming adrift, and, of course there is no contact...it's not under load. Under rapidly changing loads I bet there would be contact and wear.

Backlash and the potential for oscillations under changing loads.

Notice the ring gear is supported only by the magnetic fields. It looks like it would be a fun desk toy!

Disadvantage: A broken magnet or anything else magnetic would get sucked into the works rather quickly.

Advantage: No lubrication needed, which would be advantageous in the vacuum of space.

If one puts the drivers on the outside, and blades on the inside, would it slip out?
