Perplexing Sign

01/23/2021 10:41 AM

My wife and I were walking near home when we came across this sign:

What on earth does it mean?

There are several roads nearby that are unpassable on foot in ordinary shoes because of flooding, but we took this road and were OK. I assume that the sign is not intended for walkers anyway.

Haha....usually this means that some road work is being done and traffic is being diverted...this sign tells drivers that this street does not support normal traffic and should not be used as an alternate route....

Common sign in Ontario's Massasauga Provincial Park - only habitat for rattlesnakes in Canada.

Most likely, IMO, the politically correct way to avoid scaring today's weak of mind.

In the old days it probably would've read:

DANGEROUS ROAD - TRAVEL AT YOUR OWN RISK

Unsuitable for tall or wide loads ? Maybe vehicles with low ground clearance. Perhaps also those driving 300 miles for a bit of exercise at some beauty spot during lokdown. No idea, but I'd get my wife to do the decent thing and give me a piggy-back.

Exactly. That poor chap has no shirt, much less any footwear.
