Applications for Low Carbon Fine Wire

11/19/2007 5:42 PM

We are struggling to find new applications for our fine wire department for low carbon wire. Size range is .030 to .080. Our major customer has moved most of their business out of the U.S.

If anyone is aware of any products/applications that use low carbon wire in this size range, and mfg's in the U.S.A. please forward.

Thank you for your help!

You might give us a bit more detail! Low carbon copper? Low carbon steel? Low carbon aluminum? What did that original customer use it for?. Is that 0.030-0.080 inches, mm, or something else? Since you are apparently in the US, I would assume inches, but 0.030" is hardly what I would think of as a fine wire! 0.005" maybe, 0.001" definitely!

Thank you for your feedback. I should have said steel and it is in inches. For carbon steels this is fine wire, but in other metals it would not be considered fine.

Also (along with DKs suggestions), define "fine". "Fine wire" could mean wire with a very small diameter. It could also mean wire of exceptional quality. From the size range you gave, I am tending to go with the latter (unless the values are in mm).

Low Carbon Steel Wire:

  1. Best Customer Should be Welding Electrode Makers: for 2mmdia Stick Electrodes.
  2. Next Best also in welding-MIG feedwire.------.030">.080" all are in big tonnage demand.
  3. Maybe offer direct to all welding-supply stores: by bulkE-mail
