Agro-Resource Based Alternate Engineering Materials

11/21/2007 7:47 AM

Hello, I am working on converting agrowastes, wood wastes and other vegetation based fibrous and non-fibrous materials into new engineering materials and related products. These product systems are also being enhanced in their engineering properties toward being used as Alternate Structural systems in auto body panels and interiors. The attached photo illustrations are some products under development. I seek new venture collaboration toward commercializing these.

Hi:

Where are you based and which markets are you looking for?

Which energy source are you using for the convertion of these wastes into new products?

Which is your estimated initial investment to start selling the products?

Regards,

Hello Diomin!

Thank you for your inquiry

(1) I am in India, currently living in Bangalore, southern part of India

(2) My scheme involves conversion of agrowastes and wood wastes that are available in huge quantities in Indian villages, where the average unit labor cost is just under US $3 per day. Even if we offer $5 per day (which is a great lot of money for the men and women who work hard to eke out a subsistence level living), the final PRODUCTION COSTS for certain agro-based products - such as Hand Molded Tables, Chairs, Tiles, Panels etc - would be highly competitive in Indian Markets; and probably such products would have world leevel marketing scope.

(3) The great potential for even world level markets would be understood from the comparative study as shown in the Photo illustration below:

The Pedestal Table below is an American Exquisite design, made of Exotic wood and hand crafted of size 17-7/8" Dia and 24-1/2" ht, priced at $910. Whereas the "HAND MOLDED" exquisite Teepoy/ Side Table (two sets shown in the Illustration/ Photo) of size 15-1/4" Dia and 17-3/4" ht is priced (ex-factory) at US $20 onward. [Note: This Side Table is just one of the products. Other such products planned are: Dining Tables, Chairs, Molded Doors, Molded Floor Tiles, Wood/ Plywood Substitutes...]

(4) The immediate scheme is as follows: I have selected a local village that is about 35 kilometers (22 miles) form my living area, and a small size production center is under development through the good offices of one NGO. This NGO is a destitute support center, and the inmates have no jobs or livelihood programs. The production set up is based on FIVE MODULES of personnel; each module having 3 persons. The works involved per module are: Agrowastes collection, agrowastes preparation and agrowastes conversions. The implements and tools are rudimentary types and would work without electricity. The processes of conversions also do not use electricity; and instead, any requirement of "heat cure" is by using SUNLIGHT. Each module would produce between 6 and ten pieces of the products like Side Tables/ Boards/ Doors etc. The prototype and commercial level products in Side Tables have already been developed (as seen in the photograph/ illustration). Thus, the Five Modules would produce THIRTY pieces per day, valued US $600 (at minimum level). The labor content is US $75 (no electricity or power costs), and the other ingredients are about US $255. There is basically no other cost.

(5) The local village here could have about 100 such MODULES (where 300 persons would be working total), and on the basis of the above computation, the daily turnover would be a minimum of $12, 000

(6) The costs of plant/ tooling/ implements per Module would be just under $6, 000; the other working capital per Module would be $1200. The optimum operational UNIT would be FIVE Modules per unit, which would need a total funding of $36, 000. And the said funding would be self sustaining.

(7) It is my intention to start th FIVE Modules now, and once this UNIT goes into stream, we could FRANCHISE the Projects to other local entrepreneurs, on certain terms of reference

It is pointed our that such schemes could have world wide significance as industry and production systems are now trying to REMOVE labor content, whereas this project would use labor as a the most important resource, apart from converting WASTES.

Further, I do not wish to hold on to any dogmatic views and am open to suggestions and modifications

Hope these are good enough for you to understand what I plan

Regards

pvhramani

Try Googling for 'Venture Capitalists'.
