What would be the electric cost of a 3 phase 30 kw electric heater at 11 cents per kwh?

30 x 11 cents per hour.

(WHY DID I SAY THAT? )

Be nice. We all have brain farts from time to time. He wants to know if three phase wattage will vary with the voltage. I'm going to get more coffee. Someone explain to us the difference in costs of say, three phase 390VAC and 480VAC. Pick a load that has only resistance.

Thanks,

James

If the resistance is constant then as voltage goes up the power consumption will increase and so will the cost

Hello Hastings, not sure why you think "He wants to know if three phase wattage will vary with the voltage". But to add to Guest's #3, if it's a given resistance, power varies as voltage squared. If power is same for both, so it's a different heater for each voltage, clearly costs are the same.

Cheers....Codey

Thats true. I thought to soften the blow of his possible brain fart, I would ask him to learn the difference in costs of 390(Euro) and 480(US). Some people may be hesitant to ask questions in class for fear of ridicule. I must have been to quick to defend.

Would you consider locating me with Lat / longitude. I could pull out my GPS but asking a neighbor seems more friendly. If I ever get to England I'll buy dinner.

Hi, James,

The red dot is at 34°21'09.96"N 82°55'56.00"W.

If you mail me a zip code, I should be able to get your house/appt or whatever (or your local pub (which I've used) or where you work etc.).

Maybe not appropriate for a Monday morning, but John

The long houses are chicken houses. That is about the only industry not overseas anymore.

Hi, James,

Are you sure the batteries haven't already done something nasty to your GPS?

Google Earth puts your co-ords here:

I think it's in the Nantahala National Forest, about 230yds west of Plumorchard Gap Shelter.

John.

No, everything checks. A quick look at an atlas shows that should be close. Try zooming in. I'm the 5th house on the right. Dead end street. Cherokee Ridge Road, Canon GA 30520

Thanks,

James

Ah!

Google gives this (may not be able to see the marker on the photo above, but it's just to the left of the word "Cherokee"):
