Gas Flow Calculation Software

11/21/2007 1:43 PM

I am looking to purchase some software to calculate gas flows with orifice plates. I need something easy to use and has some reference to a known standard such as ISO 5167-1. I have in the past compared calculation results from three different programs and found the results to be further and further apart as the velocity and differential pressure increases. I must assume this is due to how each program deals with compressability of gases.

A program with built in databases for pipe diameters and gas properties would be best.

Try either "PipeNet" by Sunrise Systems (www.sunrise-sys.com)

or

Fluid Flow 3 (I am not sure of the web address)

Pipenet is more suited to oil and gas industry problems while fluid flow 3 can cope with just about everything including non-newtonian slurries. Both have similar single user licence costs and fluid flow 3 has a down-loadable free demo.

Check out Instrucalc - it's what our company uses.
