Generating electricity with an electric motor. WHY NOT????

You can generate electricity with an electric motor by driving it backwards making it a generator. Although an electric motor may not be optimized or as efficient as a generator, so that is a reason for why not, but it will work. Why the question?

Fundamentally yes. Depends upon what motor we are talking about.Asynchronous motor can be made to generate easily but u need some prime mover.cage induction motors with stators energized and driven above synchronous speed generate.Typical application is wind power generation.
