HRH Prince Philip RIP

04/16/2021 4:36 AM

Most of you will know that HRH Prince Philip consort to Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 99.

What I didn't know was his interest in Engineering until I read an article from 1976 in The Engineer.

I think that many on CR4 would, on reading this article, recognise him as a kindred spirit. He also had a wicked sense of humour - something that I know is much appreciated on this forum.

He was well-known for "saying it how it is", and for his "just get on with it" approach.

What is astonishing is the number of complaints the BBC has received about sidelining mainstream broadcasting last Saturday to cover his demise.

First off you all have my condolences.

I feel that the coverage was warranted especially considering the current content that was sidelined. Just my thoughts.

He makes a good point, too many people would spend their extra money on a lottery ticket or gambling on a horse race rather than investing in something useful.

He even designed his own hearse! A customised Land Rover Defender TD5 130.
