Visual Parts Sorting System

10/08/2021 10:13 AM

We are a small injection molding company and are looking into the possibility of sorting small injection molded parts using a automated visual system.

I am not having much luck doing internet searches, does anyone have a company that offers automated visual sorting systems that I could contact?

Thank you

What sort of sorting is needed? ...different parts, different sizes, defective shapes, color matching? Do you want auto sorting, manual sorting, you need to know the task to be performed...

Sorting out short shots and incorrectly formed parts. Some of the different iterations of the parts we do ~250K/day (3 shifts). no color sorting.

There are several vision systems around but I've had success with Panasonic vision systems under their machine control section on their WEB page

https://na.industrial.panasonic.com/products/industrial-automation/machine-vision-systems.

I've been away from this for awhile but I think they're a good starting point.

There was a Canadian company that I used about (2) years ago for a project.

it was called sight line,..

It was bought up after we ordered it through a OEM that was building a wash line for us. It was a high resolution camera that can pickup rejects, foreign material and recognize the style even when wet… used it for sorting and rejection.

they basically build an actually reference library, and use it for comparison. And I believe it learns to a certain degree… but you need to talk to them.

the company that bought Sight Line is called KPM Analytics. There a domestic company now (United States).

give them a call.
