NASA Day of Remembrance

01/28/2022 6:53 AM

Yesterday was the NASA Day of Remembrance to honor the crews lost in Apollo 1 (01-27-1969), Challenger (01-28-1986) and Columbia (02-01-2003).

It's odd that the dates of all three occurred within a 6-day span...

definnitly the Challenger… with the rings.

for the Columbia, maybe.

for the Apollo I, no, that was what turned out as a number of unknown design flaws with high oxygen content, door design and the wiring design.

I remember talking to someone who was in the firing room for Apollo 1. It was probably over in 10 or 15 seconds but for everyone on the live audio feed it was an eternity in Hell.
