What is really amazing is this stuff stands up to the heat. Many adhesives lose a lot of strength as the temps go up.

I don't know how SE finds this stuff. But the adhesive they use here is really amazing...

After SE posted, I looked this up... I only could only find how its applicated. And after the Columbia, they had a way to repair in space... how they fit the blocks they didn't say.

Back in the '70's a repair shop had a set of stones,shaped like disc pads that were used to remove minor grooving on disc pads.The stones were bonded to a pad's metal backing.

They were installed in place of the pads,and the car was driven slowly,and the brakes were applied gently.

After a couple of times around the shop,the discs were inspected,and most had a perfectly smooth finish.

The stones looked like a coarse grit emery.

I was inquiring to see if it may be possible to make a set for my own use.

Now I can do it.
