This looks really promising, but I see the danger of it going the same way as antibiotics.

Instead of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, you will have immune systems becoming resistant to the virus.

It always boils down to an arms race.

Hopefully you would only need to use it once or twice...

DNA from every living thing circulates in the air in tiny amounts and you do breathe it in, but you also eat it, that doesn't mean that you are becoming part of that animal, just that you have ingested some organic material...Your DNA is unique, and remains so your entire life...AFAIK

That is what I was always taught,but after reading the article,it seems that small snippets of the DNA,or RNA, were transferred between the two animals,carried by viruses.

Perhaps that is why married couples that live together for many years begin to resemble each other?

Viruses are basically bags of DNA that hijack other cell types and use the cell to generate copies of the virus DNA, thereby killing the cell, the virus has no purpose other than to replicate...the body will eventually develop antibodies and kill off the virus...

You might be thinking of epigenetic changes, which are not changes to the DNA structure itself but chemical blobs attached to the DNA that alter communication....and these come from your everyday environment effects...

People who live together over time do sometimes share diet, exercise and grooming habits that may manifest as similar general physical condition and appearance...and yes probably some epigenetic influences as well, but these don't necessarily have similar results from person to person....

There are people that have more than one DNA in their bodies,coexisting with no problems.

The internal organs may be one DNA profile,the blood or hair may be another DNA profile;(Chimeras).
