Steel tubular pole

09/10/2022 12:35 PM

Dear sirs,

It was noted that a steel tubular pole is painted red oxide on outside part. Does it mean to say that outside part of steel tubular pole should be red in colour?

regards,

You could paint over the red oxide with another color paint just to see if an inspector notices. Be prepared for the inspector to fail your project and for your boss to fire you for incompetence.

It's your call.

The note is incomplete. It doesn't say what colour the inside of the <...Steel tubular pole...> is to be painted.

Of course not. We made them in many colors, but many were hot dipped galvanized. Some were weathering steel and ended up a dark brown.

Well red oxide is more of a dirty brown colour and is usually only used as a primer before finish coating. The red oxide I have used needed to have a top coat of some water impervious paint as red oxide primer has an affinity for water.

If they are referring to the actual paint,Red Oxide Primer,it is used as a rust preventative, contains fish oil,and is impervious to water, providing protection for the metal. All bare metal surfaces in a factory where I worked were required to have a fish oil primer before being installed..It was then painted with the choice of color.

If they are referring to a color, then red oxide color paint is available almost anywhere.

You need to determine the exact specification for the red oxide.
