Translation

How can I retain selected few words unaltered (untranslated) while translating from one language to another? I am trying Google Translation, if not any other apps can do it better?

Google translator usually does not try to translate words that are unique to another language...for that you need somebody that is fluent in both languages to explain the meaning as best they can...

Thanks for your guidance, but I am looking for something else.

Let me be more specific, in the following sentence, when I try translating to Hindi, Google translates every possible word. For example, I want to retain the words in italics to be said in English as such.

It should be noted that the rotating impeller imparts velocity energy to the fluid which is converted to pressure energy in the pump volute. An increase in pressure energy is proportional to the centrifugal force applied to the fluid which in turn is proportional to the weight of the fluid being handled.

Yes I believe that will require editing...or maybe you could use ChatGPT ...

Might take some tweaking...but it could be done....

First translate the whole paragraph (seen at the right here)

Now translate each of the parts you want to "leave" and substitute them into the Hindi paragraph.

So for example you need to substitute "velocity" for the last word in the third line of the translation.

You might like to leave the word in place and put "velocity" in brackets.

I doubt if there's a shortcut.

It’s not only translating the words, it’s the syntax of sentence structure you’re translating to…

Yes the translated version sometimes is way off when read, but is not too hard for a native speaker to translate the translation who understands the proper order of SVO...and can explain the meaning of unique words... timing and pronunciation are also important, as they can also vary even from region to region..

Yes,… pronunciation and emphasize syllables in a foreign language… some spelt words can have different meanings depending what syllable is emphasized… I think Spanish is like that…

Instead of using an <...app...>, hire a local Translator instead. Yellow Pages?

Simplesξ.

English: you get what you pay for..

translate Spanish to English… you buy and get it.

well not so much today, but these translators back in the 90’s responses could be pretty humorous…
