It depends upon the following, details of which have been withheld from the forum:

  • Temperatures
  • Humidity
  • Vibration
  • How long it has been in storage prior to use
  • In what condition it was left in storage
  • How many times it has been fully discharged
  • How many times it has been short-circuited
  • Etc.

All of these things are facility-specific, and the best source of information on them is the <...We...>.

<...life span...>

In what sense (also withheld from the forum)?

  • If it were abused and operated well out of its specification, for instance, subjected to fire and deep freeze, dropped from a great height, shorted and shorted and shorted, then it might last a couple of days.
  • If it were used as a door stop, for instance, its life would probably outlast the door that it were stopping.

...."The life expectancy of batteries is very dynamic and depends on a number of application specific variables such as the proper sizing of the battery bank, depth of discharge, type of loads, battery maintenance regime, ambient temperature, and charging algorithm."...

However, generally speaking 4 - 8 years...on average..

The typical battery usable life expectancy will normally depend upon the type of chemical used, and how the battery is maintained in the environment of application..

Lithium-ion type can last at least 3X to 4X more than the regular lead-acid storage type of battery assuming proper application and normal usage environment..

Additionally, batteries do normally have shelf life, which may affect the useful operational life expectancy that can be expected regardless of the printed technical specifications..

Which means that batteries may have a shorter span if has been stored for awhile before being installed and put into operation..

It is a flooded Lead acid tubular type battery meant for automotive applications. I don't think it will last over 5 years. You can check the Trojan battery, UK literature.

How did the telephone call with the battery's manufacturer go?
