Help for Rosacea

03/08/2025 8:32 AM

I recently started having Rosacea on my face and forehead. The dermatologist tried everything in their arsenal but no joy. It did nothing. There is no cure, I am told, but I have found something that gives temporary clearing of the red skin. It is a micro-encapsulated peroxide exfoliant, normally used to treat acne.

I will not name a brand, but there are many with the micro-encapsulated peroxide.

It will peel the rosacea layer of skin off and last several weeks for me. YMMV.

Use at your own discretion.

I apply it several times a day and at night and it will itch for a day or two, then the dead skin can be washed off and the skin is then clear.

This is not medical advice, simply relating my experience with it.

I have no financial interest in any of these products, and everything is from my personal experience.

I hope this helps someone.

I hope you feel better soon...it seems as I get older I get all sorts of weird problems, it's not easy getting old...there don't seem to be cures for a lot of these issues, you just have to keep searching for something that makes it better...the good news is there's no shortage of homeopathic remedies that may or may not work...it's hard to beat hydrogen peroxide as a treatment, and aloe vera gel is good, 10% sulphur ointments, uvc light, a clean environment is essential, frequent washing of clothes and sheets etc.

I was also diagnosed with Rosacea, which were a bit itchy red bumps right on the very tip section of my nose.. The dermatologist prescribed a prescription for Soolantra, which is an ivermectin cream..

She also handed a small 2g tube cream sample to try after dabbing a little over the redness area of my nose.. It is a very effective cream made in Canada that only require once or twice application on the affected area..

It looks like that is an approved treatment...

"EpsolayTM cream is a novel topical treatment that utilizes microencapsulated benzoyl peroxide to treat moderate to severe papulopustular rosacea. It is effective at decreasing, and for some patients clearing, the papules, pustules, and telangiectasias associated with rosacea. It is well-tolerated with minimal adverse effects and has demonstrated efficacy comparable to other topical agents that are used for the condition."

I had looked into this a while back where depending on degree, laser treatment does help. This comes from various sources WebMD, American Academy of Dermatology Medical News Today.

I, myself always prefer the simplest treatments. Out of curiosity, is that over the counter medication?

It is OTC for the brand I used, so I presume it is OTC for others as well.

I tried every Rx available from my dermatologists to no avail.

Some even made it worse. That is when I sought out OTC remedies. This was advertised for Acne, but I decided to try it anyway.

It works great, and last a long time.

I know why they call it a medical practice, because they are practicing. I would like to find a doctor that really knows what to do instead of using the shotgun approach.

OTC and herbal, or home remedies are not even accepted as viable by doctors, but

I have found several that work very effectively for things the doctors could not fix, so it because of a job security thing keeps 'em coming back.

I am not saying all doctors are bad, I have encountered some that were really interested in the patient.. those are the ones I go back to.

I remember when doctors made house calls like doc Adams on Gunsmoke(telling on myself now).

He came to the house with his little black bag, took your temperature, checked your blood pressure and made you say "Ahh" listened to your lungs and heart, looked at your eyes, pinched your fingernails then gave you some meds if you needed them.

You paid him with whatever you had, be it home canned goods, a cured ham or whatever was good enough for him.

No one went to the doctor unless it was a very serious problem and some women never went even for childbirth.

A cough, cold or injury was taken care of and you got over it eventually. The body is the best healer.

Here is a link to a finger regrowing on it's own on a young girl. There are many links and research on this. The fingertip was amputated but never stitched or treated except for wrapping with a bandage.

I saw an artifact and a signed letter from a doctor in the Oklahoma Cowboy museum. It was an arrowhead removed from a man's abdomen. It had been there for years after he was shot in the back with an arrow. It looked like it was made from folded metal probably from a tin can. He had not been to a doctor before and was never near a town, so he just tolerated it. He was eventually near a town and was just passing through, so he decided to have the doc look at the oozing bump in his side. It had eventually worked its way to near the skin on his side near the stomach and the doctor removed it and wrote statement with the details.
