X Rays from Scotch Tape

Your next exam may use Scotch tape?

X rays from scotch tape are real:

Yes, that is an example of visible light, but I don't know about the X Ray emission.

I am still digging for more info on this subject.

This is old news.

You initiated a CR4 discussion on this also.

AFAIK. The uncontrollable nature of the X-rays produced, along with the necessity for a vacuum, has prevented this technique from any practical use. Then again, the profit of medical X-ray machines could be why this remains only a novelty.

The image shows the source in a vacuum, but the finger is external, but held closely to the surface of the source. Miniaturization could make it possible to use even as a dental X Ray. Small vacuum enclosures are old tech, for instance vacuum tubes before solid state devices were developed. Evidently glass does not attenuate the X Rays very much.

I find it ironic that, long ago, electricity was discovered by rubbing two materials together, but with all our advances, triboelectricity is still poorly understood.

I understand it, what I’m concerned about is the influx of AI into tye educational system through from elementary, jinior, senior high school to college.

Where one is no longer require to do reading, investigating research and writing you own test paper assignments but letting AI do it prior to understanding the foundamentals.

This just didnt start, i experience it in the early 90’s, where i’d hire an recent engineering graduate, and ask him do a simply motion curve. His response was we had software to do that in school. I told him we don’t have that software, do it on cad. Well he did it but it was wrong and he never tested it out. The shop floor was installing it for shipment. Wnd one of the fabricators came to him said it wasnt working.

Which then came to me. Putting thing aside, i shlwed him, and did it within 5 miniutes.

I had components already fabricated from another project that was close and install that instead. He was amazd.

He mentioned in his defense if we had the software, that never would have happened.

That rubbed me the wrong way, and told him

  • we use that rarely i cant justify it
  • you Have a BSME from Michigan Tech you should know that.
  • you need to know and understand the fundamentals.

He continued arguing, and my response was this and this was the first time i used this.

well, im going to be direct to you and said, “Listen, NASA can teach a monkey to be an astronaut, but that astronaut is still a monkey. I didnt hire a monkey, i hired an engineer.”

and then i sat down with him to do a motion curve. He couldn’t. I showed him how, and it was like a lightbulb going off. He couldn’t beleive how simple it was and what he was doing wrong

Thats where one has to teach and understand fundamentals first, and then and only then you can use the more advance tools such as software or AI.

Thank you for reinforcing my subjective post.

I like to add a few things.

  1. Using AI can be done, but one needs to manage it and engage it? Just like managing people.
  2. Still have to be aware, AI programmers may have of arterial motive. Just like the news sources making false claims. Remember that AI may have allies such as tools or puppets that will argue and cliam you’re a conspiracy theoriest.

So,.. Again, know the fundamentals and dont be a monkey astronaut.

Piezo electricity can be produced by stressing crystals.

Lightning has been observed during earthquakes stemming from tectonic plates being squeezed or broken, miles deep.

Imagine a swamp being shaken by an earthquake.

Dissolved methane would escape into the air, forming a very explosive cloud above the swamp. The shape of the cloud would be influenced by the wind direction. When the mixture of air and methane reached a certain point,it could be ignited by even a small spark.

A fuel-air bomb is one of the most powerful bombs ever made.

Now imagine a swamp that is several miles long being shaken by an earthquake, releasing huge amounts of methane and being ignited by a piezo spark from an earthquake.

Perhaps this was the source of the Tunguska explosion?

No remains of a meteorite or meteor crater were never found.

The direction of the flame front would be influenced by the shape of the cloud, and exactly where the ignition point was located.

This would give a certain shape to the explosion, following the cloud of methane from the ignition point outward.

Many miles away, people reported earthquakes shaking the ground and seeing lightning in the skies.

Just me and my friend Gentleman Jack thinkin'

The btu content of a 1 mile sphere of methane is approximately 1,065,452,554,659,832,000 BTU.

That is a lot of energy.

I don't know how many Mega tons of TNT equivalent ,but it is a lot!

If the damage was from an explosion of a meteorite, wouldn't the shape of the damage be an oblong shape, in the direction of the travel considering it was traveling over 30,000, MPH?

The images of the explosion are nearly perfectly circular.

Why are impact craters round?

That is a direct impact hit, not a fly over @30000 mph explosion. There are also oblique craters where the meteorite hit on an angle.

On the East Coast, there are several elongated lakes that have reportedly been formed by meteor impact.
