Internet receiving

12/25/2007 11:48 PM

We are at present receiving or accesing internet through a paid private medium but signals are not always 100 per cent. This medium has a relay I guess which we in turn pick up through an anttenae. Do we have a suggestion on how to improve on this reception?

are you using wireless transitting?

its because too terminals inline at same time. and the band wide is limited.

so its neccessary to expend capacity of your isp.

Lapses in internet connectivity can usually be resolved easily by powering down both the cable or dsl modem and the router (consumer units often combine the modem and the router). After about two minutes off, restart the modem. After the modem has re-started completely, re-start the router, if that is a separate unit.

If you are using any switches to increase the size of your network, you can cycle those as well.

This works for the same reason that re-starting a misbehaving computer often fixes a problem. It clears the memory, plus any cached data that may have become corrupted over time. It also keeps you from wasting the time of a support operator unless there is really a problem that doesn't have its origin in your equipment.

I don't know where you are located so it's hard to speculate what the problem might be. There are different ways to use radio frequencies to transmit over different distances. If we knew what some of the basics are we may be able to make some suggestions.

If you could tell us frequencies and brand of equipment and how far from your location to the relay you are referring to that would help. Also, are there any trees or terrain that is blocking the signal from having an open line of sight between your location and the relay? And is your equipment located in a metal or brick building whereas the walls block the line of sight to the relay?

There are some types of equipment that I'm not familiar with but I'll do my best to help you if I can with what I do know.

Randy

PS: I'll try to watch for your answer but I have noticed there is a several hour lag from when someone posts until I get an e-mail notifying me.

Maybe a seance? Otherwise don't pay your medium until her channelling improves.
