i need a power supply circuit with input 230V AC and output 12V DC

and .5A

A trip to a local automotive parts retail outlet will provide some equipment over-the-counter. They are called battery chargers.

Guest, that power supply is probably the easiest circuit to design.

12Volt ½ Amp suits a 7812 regulator nicely, a bridge rectifier, a sprinkling of capacitors and a transformer and you're done!

Look up data sheet of the 7812 and you will find circuits galore showing you how to use them for this purpose...

well there are types PS that you may choose there are the regulated ones (the best) with variable output voltahe for you to tinker, but if your not looking for such & just want a PS in a jiffy then those made in china ones would work just make sure about the ampere rating &dont swallow it it may contain some lead in its painting...cheers
