If your generator is operating but not getting juice from it. Check the fuses and/or circuit breakers. I'm assuming it is fairly new and not an old antigue that may need rebuilding.

it is apossibility that the dynamore is faulty or the protective fuse is blown

Looks like you've got a problem that needs to get down to the basic machine...

First check that if your engine is turning the rotor turns as well, if it does, stop the engine and do some checks. Start with trying to remember when the machine was last run on load and what maintenance has been done since. Then start with the easy ones first like fuses, and check they're correctly sized. Then check all your power and control connections. Check your brushes are seated on the slip rings if you have them, or the rotating diodes are all seviceable.

If all the above is okay you're now in a position with an insulation tester and multimeter to work your way round the circuit with the appropriate drawings.

If you need more help then be more specific, there's a whole network of assistance on this forum just itching to solve your problem.

Best of luck...

try to check if your engine's rpm, some gensets are designed to produce output voltage at a certain rpm, on my experience most of them were design at 1800 rpm and will not work below 1500 rpm.

try to check also carbon brush spring, the excitation voltage also.

some gensets are dependent on battery, there might be 1 wiring connection disconected on the positive of your battery.

Hi,

You could check with electrical relays if they are small it would be like a bottle neck not allowing optimum power to flow through.

Besides the advice given already, keep it simple and check for power to the voltage regulator (blown fuses or some type of power interruption). The generator will not build voltage if the regulator has no input power. Then check the diodes on the bridge rectifier on the rotating rectifier plate (if this is a generator built in the past 15-20 years). If you don't understand these terms then hire an expert.

My gen won't work if I use my electric drill with variable speed control. It seems that it won't excite the thing! (I'm no electrician)!

If I use my angle grinder with just on/off switch, no problem!

If it is more than the circuit breaker, and considering the level of your question, You'd be much better off seeking help from a professional, or you may kill yourself.

You say that "the outut power is not coming", if mean the voltage, then firstly you should look at the prime mover. Is the rated RPM's being delivered by the diesel engine? If not check fuel system filters and valves, also the air intake system, again filters and turbo if fitted. If you are getting full RPM but no electrical generation is the coupling good.

If all the above are OK then go with the other guys on the electrical distribution side.

Also, is there a Voltage Regulating Card, this may need adjusting.

I assume u are not getting any power out put from the generator. If it was not used for long time or if it is old the generator would have lost its residual magnetism which helps the voltage building process. You have to Flash with battery and start the set.Second possibility if its brush less generator The rotating rectifier diode, fuse might have gone.So no excitation and hence no voltage. If everything is ok its most probably loss of residual magnetism.

if you are sure about the RPM is ok and all fuses and relays are ok , then you have problem with the voltage regulator itself.

please either consult the supplier or read the manual of the generator and go to the troubleshooting section.

This is avery general trouble in DG set. I think you should contact the Generator OEM. Still probable problems are

1.The residual magnetism may be absent. You need to do field flash. Prolonged storage or unuse may weeken residual magnetism.

2. Check AVR connection as per manufacturer recommendtion.

3. Field current control Potentiometer is not at 'zero'.

First and foremost checks are Measuring meter, Breaker on condition, power cable connection etc.
