Horsepower vs Watts

anybody know how much is 1 hp in watts in ac or dc ? thanks

http://www.simetric.co.uk/ is a useful thing for any Engineer's 'favourites'.

As to AC or DC, it doesn't matter at all.

The figure that is accepted is, 746 watts to 1 HP.

If they had given horses steroids years ago...would motors be stronger today ??

Good question... I have always wondered, why is it that one horse is not a little stronger then the next nag in the reins. Do they send them all to horsey school so that they all learn exactly how hard to pull? If they all pull the same, why have draft horses? Why did Budweiser not hook up some minature horses to its wagon filled with beer barrels?
