Hello Guest,

The Quad processor has 4 full CPU units on the one silicon base, along with cache RAM of various amounts.

The Dual processor has 2 full CPU units on the one silicon base, along with cache RAM of various amounts.

In general because the CPU connections are very short, between CPU units, and also the Cache RAM, they are very much faster than single CPU units.

For the Dual, Quad and Octet (8 CPU Units to be on-sale soon) to work efficiently, the Motherboard and associated chipsets must be specially designed to use the parallel processing which makes the multi-CPU on a chip, such a speedy system.

I do note that a 16 CPU type - (all on the single silicon base), unit is presently being worked on, and further development will, no doubt, seeing us all having the equivalent of today's Supercomputers, sitting on our desktops within 15 or so years.

Kind Regards....
