Desalination Using Membrane Distillation

I want to know what are the various considerations and the design expressions with the sequence of steps for the desalination of sea water by membrane distillation with the help of reverse osmosis techniques using an hydrophobic membrane

  • The range of feed temperatures
  • The range of feed salinities
  • The level of settleable solids in the feed
  • The level of free chlorine in the feed
  • The availability of feed volume
  • The recovery ratio required
  • The levels of divalent and trivalent precipitables in the feed
  • The amount of energy available.
  • The purity level required
  • The space and weight constraints for the plant
  • The need for redundancy in the equipment
