Interconnecting Two PBXs

01/10/2008 7:25 AM

Can any one figure this out, we've been trying to interconnect two PBXs using E1 via a fibre optic pipe provided by a PTO. Even with the activation of QSIG on both PBXs, there's been no success yet. The PBXs are 3Com IP PBX and Teltronics 20-20.

Counting on our expertise and thanking you in advance.

Just a couple of shots in the dark...

  • Does the fiber optic have two lines or only one? If two, try switching one end around - might be just TX to TX and Rx to Rx.
  • Are you sure the fiber is good? Make sure it isn't broken inside.
  • What upper-level communication applications are running? Are they compatible?
  • Can you determine that the QSIG signalling is actually occurring on both PBXs?

Am I right in assuming that the fibre link is up and running OK for other traffic?

Is it just one E1 pipe?

Can you put a loop back at position $ to check PBX1(+fibre), and, £ to check PBX2(+fibre)?

PBX1------E1-------£Fibre I/F1-----fibre------Fibre I/F2$-----E1------PBX2

Better to loopback one pipe on another if you have 2, but Rx on Tx if only one.

Of course if nothing works you can apply the loopbacks the other way round to eliminate the fibre section.

Make sense?

Thank you all for the comments so far, the fibre is ok and we've done the loop back to confirm the pipe is ok.

We shall investigate the possibility of the the QSIG signalling not occurring on one of the PBXs.

Warm regards,

Ethobil
