Ventilating Steam Showers

01/14/2008 1:41 AM

After using a steam shower, a proper ventilation of steam that gets spreaded around is must to maintain a dried air in the room. basically steam is water at above 95-100 degree centigrade temeprature. of course air propelling air fans are in use to propel out steam. vent grill could of be special design with lower temeprature to condense the steam but must have the provision to collect the condensed water from steam to recycle it. because the only thing which can prevent the steam spreading is temperature, since the steam temperature is higher, due to this the water molecules of steam have higher kinetic energy and move to shed off their energy. so if in bath room only some sort of vent grill type provison is fitted and maintained at comparatively lower tempearture than the steam would not go to around but would go only to this provision due to temperature difference.

UK building regulations require forced ventilation of new bathrooms in the home. If the room is occupied by personnel then 95-100degC would be intolerable. Steam can exist at much lower temperatures than those listed. What is often mistaken for steam is actually extremely fine water droplets; clouds are made of this stuff.
