It sounds as though there is an opportunity locally for a Chartered Chemical Engineer to assist with the design.

The one I was looking at today (15,000 gal?) double walled, gap between walls, outer wall is reinforced concrete lined, a 8 inch blow off vent to prevent explosion from heat, plumbing is so if piping is damaged it does not continue to flow. Don't remember the brand.

It's a start

methanol is a funny duck and you need to guard against corrosion.

Methanol is highly corrosive and will attack the welds and especially the heat affected zones. Carbon steel can be used but must be heat-treated. I would also use a force cured phenolic paint.

Double walled tanks and the tanks should be put in a spill control dike.

All associated piping must be heat treated also.

I would expect that to build tanks of this size, you will have to apply for local permits, and probably an EPA study will have be made.

There Will have to be some type of fire protection, again covered by local regulations and laws.

No Plastics at all!

"Methanol is especially damaging to rubber and

plastic parts. Parts that come in contact with the fuel need

to be damage resistant. These include the fuel tank, fuel

lines, fuel injectors, fuel pumps, and filters."

Your best bet:1mm thick Aluminium inner skin fitted into a loose fitting steel outer of full strength.Radial gap between Al&Steel=25mm. fill up with lightweight concrete which will set hard permanently.Piping out from Aluminium inner tank has to be tested thick strong Al to flange out of Steel outer. Beyond--SS304.
