Enquiry on Ni-Mn alloy

01/16/2008 6:52 AM

How to melt Ni-Mn alloy? What is the suitable crucible to melt it? It is difficult to melt in graphite or quartz crucible, because wettability of that melt is high, so it reacts with the crucible. If anybody knows it please let me know.

Well, when we needed to melt ga-ni-mn alloy we also faced the same problem- finding the right crucible, eventually we found somebody else to do it- www.asmrnd.com. As i understand they use copper crucible to melt the alloy.

Hi,

ga-ni-mn ? what is this used for?

Cu crucible? not very likely as all the elements will dissolve copper, so not possible exdcept in a cold wall crucible and this will make big problems of defining the melt to solid transition.

More likely graphite crucible or ? ceramic?
