sir,

In our plant we have a 100mw siemens make steam turbine. Now there is drop wise condensate leakage in the parting off line near exhaust hood,in running condition it is very diffuclt to locate that point so sir is there any process to locate that point in running condition of turbine.

Spray the parting line with foamy shaving cream (the stuff people put on their face before shaving with a razor). The low pressure inside the hood should pull in shaving cream where the leak is, while the shaving cream will remain in tact elswhere..

Shaving gel does not work so well, you need the kind that comes out of the can foamy.

This is the sort of thing here:

shaving cream

If there is a leak of condensed vapor that means inside pressure > outside thus the foam will not go in. But condensate will wash the foam off so it will show where it comes from.

The best would be to dry the surface before spaying the foam.

Good point,

The way it was written I was not real sure what he was getting at and assumed that he meant that it was a condensor leak, and not condensate leakage. The OP is not exactly clear

If the pressure inside the exhaust hood is high enough for condensate leakage at the hood joint (pretty unlikely if it is still running), the condenser is not working right, and they have other problems...

What is the condesor vacuum reading? What is the exhaust hood temp?

For heaven sakes, call a seamens service rep. or siemens direct for the help you need.

This is not a car you take to a mechanic down the street after the service warranty runs out .

So what do you do when you find out the shaving cream get sucked in or pushed out , change a seal. I'm no expert on steam turbine but that's what I would do.

WOW, come on!! This is a 100MWh turbine, it isn't for "tinkering" with!! Call Siemens, call Alstom, call Westinghouse, call NORRES, but for "@#4" sake don't take advise on a $10MM turbine from a posting site!! There are so many areas for leakage to occur it could be just actual transfer condensate, way to varied a question to answer through this method. Is this super heated, saturated, low pressure steam!?! Siemens would roll over in there Vertitas certificate if they seen this post.

I think you misunderstood my last paragraph. what I mean is, it does not matter where the leak is much less for you to find out with a can of shaving cream.

CALL THE SEAMENS SERVICE REP. and let them find the leak and fix it .

Now I wonder if this advice is clear enough.
