evaporator question

situation:

1. i have this evaporator and i want to test its capacity. do i need to have the complete aircon parts (condenser, compressor, expansion device, etc) or just a refrigirant tank, pump and an air source.?

2.
i have 2 pipes. the source is pipe A and i will connect it to pipe B. the diameter of Pipe varies and has a range, lets say around 1 in. pipe A can be larger than pipe B. what mechanism shall i use in order to avoid leakage during the process? the fluid is a refrigirant and pressurized like in most air conditioners (window-type).

Assuming it is a sealed system like most refrigerant circuits, there will always be refrigerant in the circuit, whether the equipment is running or not. It is only the temperature, pressure and flowrate of the selected refrigerant that vary with location in the equipment during operation. Refer to the original equipment manufacturer's operation and maintenance manual for confirmation.

Are you sure this is an air conditioning evaporator? The fins look way too deep. Could it be a fluid cooler, or maybe vehicle air conditioning? You should check the fittings to see if they have a 45-degree flare used in air-conditioning, or a 60-degree flare--or other--fitting used for hydraulics.
