Are you sure its VA/ VE and not Valve? It could be a typo.

Experience in automobile industry with exposure to design & development in areas like metal structures, mechanisms, plastics components, foams, etc. Should be proficient in CATIA V5 ,BIW ( Part modeling, basic surfacing , drafting & assembly modules) .
Experience in design of Seating systems would be preferred.
Exposure on other CAD softwares ( Catia V4 / Ideas / UG ) , Knowledge of GD&T, VA/VE process & DFMEA will be an added advantage.
BIW is must.

like the above mentioned

thank you

VA (Value Analysis)/VE (Value Engineering) is simpy a problem solving tool used to reduce product cost. So far, I have only seen this in the automotive industry, driven by the OEM. Search VA/VE and find some examples.

As stated before its stands for Value Analysis/Value Engineering

The originator of Value Engineering was Larry Miles who worked at General Electric

The key to va/ve is to identify all functions being performed by product or service. Functions are either primary, secondary, or unwanted. Each of these functions have a worth and a cost if the cost is greater than the worth it is poor value

It is a multi-disciplinary effort usually including: design engineers, manufacturing engineers, procurement, finance, customer service, and others.

There is Value Engineering Job Plan which has the following phases:

  • Investigation (Get all the facts about the product or service)
  • Functional Analysis (Identify all functions being performed and assigning worth and cost)
  • Creativity (Brainstorming) Quanitity of ideas (should be around 100) is important not Quality and this time
  • Evaluation (coarse screening) to top few and then detail evaluation (trade studies)
  • Development (such as proof of concept testing)
  • Presentation to top management
  • Implementation
  • Followup

There is an organization called SAVE which stands for Society of American Value Engineer which certifies Value Engineers as Associate Value Specialist (AVS) or Certified Value Special (CVS)

Some Government Contracts have Value Engineering Program or Incentive Clauses

I made my living doing Value Engineering for Defense type projects and could go on forever about it.

I recommend you get Larry Miles book on Value Analysis.
