PLC HANG PROBLEM ?

01/22/2008 10:55 PM

at present we are using PLC of SIEMENS, of CPU 313C 2DP V.1.0.3, MODULAR ET200S , IM151-1 STANDARD, & OPERATING PANEL SIMETIC OP 170B(MONO), my problem is that when ever machine starts, some error blink as a message "CONNECTION DISCONNECTED,RACK 0, STATION 2" etc. & all fuctions stop, so, is this problem related to COMMUNICATION CABLE or RELATED TO MODULOR or of ANY OTHER TYPE ?

As I could realize from your so laconic message. Controlled object Rack 0 or/and Station 2 is not response to request of your master/host PLC. It may be problem with communication cable as well as with protocol repeater (if it's using). It may be fault of DAQ module at remote Station 2.

I'm not familiar with this model but I'd like to take a stab at it.

If Rack 0, Station 2 is in a separate panel, it may be that when power is switched on, the rack supply lags behind the main panel supply. So the processor module already has power and is checking for the other modules and racks and couldn't find them because they haven't powered up yet.

I absolutely agree with Vulcan as properly designed network should have separated power supply being isolated from host-PLC.

I think there is in any case a communication error. Master PLC can't get response after determined TimeOut.

Your personnel staff has to fix this problem.

Good luck.
