Well... you know what a sheet of paper is?

Well sheet metal is like that ... but metal.
It can be various thicknesses, from say 0.2mm upto 10mm or more. It can come in reels or huge sheets.

Car body panels are generally made out of it.

Standard sort of thing might be 2mm thick thick sheet 2metre x 2metre aluminuim, the sort of thing you might use to make a solar hot water panel.

I think I may see the problem....
You obviously didn't read the first two lines with the correct intonation .
May I suggest you imagine you are a stroppy teenager talking to his Dad and try again... ? ..once more with feeling.... (you could also pull that face they do, and go 'D'uh'...slapping your head may also enhance the effect)

Sheet: Not Rod /Bar/tube/Joist/Extruded Shape--- but flat-as Del said.
