Sree,

I/O modules are a the means by which the PLC CPU receives signals from sensors or switches (Input) which are processed by the CPU and dependent on the program signals are sent out to displays, actuators, relays in order to perform actions on changes to the inputs.

Flex IO is a type of addressable remote I/O which connects to the PLC by means of a bus. (I think devicenet in the case of Allen Bradley) this cuts down on wiring to remote points of large machines.

POINT I/O and FLEX I/O are both products of Rockwell Automation's Allen-Bradley. I am, unfortunately, unable to give you a comparison since I've only used FLEX I/O and never used POINT I/O. The only thing I know about POINT is that it's much cheaper and has less I/O per module than FLEX.

If you want to know more, check out the Rockwell Automation website on I/O:

http://www.ab.com/en/epub/catalogs/12762/2181376/104830/2416241/

If you don't find what you're looking for there, you can email them and ask your question. Or you can contact your nearest Allen-Bradley distributor or office.
