Hand Held Laser Micrometer

I have a need for a handheld laser micrometer. Does anyone know a reliable source for this equipment?

Why does it have to be a laser?

Over small distances a standard screw thread micrometer is more accurate... If you're measuring something that can't be touched how about air gauging?

Thanks for the info. I am currently using what you describe and I am indeed measuring small distances. The material I am measuring can also be touched. Sounds like I need to keep my current process.
