Re: PLC Training HELP!!!

Have a look at this thread. It's got lots of examples of cheap logic controllers - they don't have all the capabilities of a full-blown PLC, but will give you a good start. Many of them have free downloadable software & manuals (with example programs). The software can often be used in a simulation mode - so you can create and test the program without even having the controller.

Enjoy!

Back in the 1980s, Allen Bradley sold some PLC training courses at every level from their training centre in Sutton Coldfield, just outside Birmingham. Do they still run?

Don't know - but if they do (under the Rockwell influence) they'll almost certainly cost several teeth, if not a limb or two!

in general all PlC communicate with PC with the help of communication cable or with compatible hardware conversion.

it required by directional software for communication with each other, or PLC manufacturer software.

as all address and hardware are manufacturer proprietary item.

you can config all ports as you like with I/o , analog of digital what ever available with the plc also you can add on additional if required depend upon flexibility and expansion of PLC manufacturer.

what you want to do please tell in brief may i help you.

Hello old FART: modernize they say, compromise I say.

I don't know how much help this will be to you, but this link should take you to where you can download software for a programmable logic relay.

http://www.telemecanique.com/REF/Newsconsole.nsf/TemplateUS/6478D72586C941C0C125710600539F5C/?OpenDocument

PLR and a PLC are basically the same thing, the PLR is a stripped-down version. Many companies give away their software for the PLR's. This software is fully functional, can be programmed and run in simulation mode on your computer.

I'm a ladder logic man myself, this software offers you two programming options. Ladder logic and function block logic, so if you need to practice your function block programming (as I do) you can do it to your hearts content.

The software also contains a pretty good online help file, good luck.

Hope this helps you.

You can use a simulator instead of real hardware. I am presently trying to learn PLC programming and I use the decently priced stuff from here. http://www.thelearningpit.com/

Having used relay logic I am having a hard time getting used to the idea that the logic doesn't match the inputs.

You can download a free 800 page book on the subject here. http://www.eod.gvsu.edu/~jackh/books/plcs/ I find it helpful. It starts with the basics.

Now days there is a lot more to learning just ladder logic if you actually want to do the safely, reliable, using best practices outlined at PLC Training Org. But we all have to start somewhere, for basics see http://bin95.com/allen-bradley-plc-programming.htm

To better get you well on your way to dealing with PLCs is the real world, consider Koldwater's PLC Technician bundle.

(I know this was an old post, but current readers may need the updated info. So I hope this helps.)
