Control Technique DC Drive Mentor 2 (49Kw)

03/04/2008 3:23 AM

Dear All.

I have a Control Technique DC Drive Mentor 2 (49Kw) in my machine. I want to communicate with drive through my PC having software. I prepared a cable as indicated in manual;

PC Connector (9pins) Drive PL2 connector (9oins)

pin 2 pin 2

pin 3 pin 3

pin 5 pin 1+6+7

When I communicate, after some time a massage appears "No communication with drive" appears. P

Do you get any meaningful communication before the message appears, or does it just time out?

Also, make sure your baud rate is correct (try 9600). You may have a mis-communication due to wrong baud rate, therefore your PC isn't talking to the drive.

Make sure that some other program isn't "holding" your serial port. For example RSLinx from Rockwell Software is a program that usually runs at startup and will hold your serial port preventing you from using it for anything other then RSLinx. In this instance to use it for something else you have to shut down (or terminate) the program or process. I would suggest you like at what processes are running and terminate any that may be using your serial port. Good Luck!

Good point (I come across it quite often) - but any program worth it's salt should at least come back with "Port Already In Use" or something similar.
