Fresnel Collectors

03/06/2008 4:30 AM

I am looking for receivers for fresnel solar collector system. Where can I buy them. Big manufacturer such as Schott does not sell them in a small amount.

Thanks

Hello tuncay.kalfa

Contact Schott, tell them your requirements, and ask them to advise contact details for their nearest distributor.

They will have that information, in their sales database.

Alternatively, In Google Search Engine, type: schott fresnel = Results 1 - 10 of about 12,000 for schott fresnel. (0.24 seconds)

So now you have plenty of contacts/potential suppliers.

Trust that assists you.

Kind Regards....

Did you see this: apparently old back projection TVs had a Fresnel lens as part of the screen, and, you can pick them up for almost nothing.

Watch out for his warning to ensure you wear suitable protective (dark) glasses.

Check the web for members of the Rochester Cluster. You will find optical companies of every size and capability.

If you need a custom part, you may want to go to AGI or Glass Fab. They would have the material and could at least rough out the part for you. They would be able to recommend the right company to polish the part to your specifciation.

From any dollar store you can buy a Fresnel magnifying sheet of letter-format. Is much better than paying over $50 for roughly the same stuff from Schott or other big company.

Of course, it all depends on the size you are looking for. If the application is CPV (concentrated photovoltaic), I wouldn't recommend a Fresnel concentrator as the focus is not accurate or any other refractive device due to their chromatic aberrations.

try "American Science and Surplus"

(888-724-7587)
http://www.sciplus.com/

They're in Chicago. They were in a tiny shop when I was a boy. Now they are fairly large. They started out, many years ago, selling surplus optical lenses. So they always have optical devices of one sort or another. Plus, they have an enormous array of very interesting and usable (and some merely fanciful) items, at very cheap prices!
