Medical Ventilator

03/07/2008 9:10 AM

We are in the process of designing a light weight, portable, low powered ventilator used mainly in Intra hospital and Pre-Medical Treatment. We are looking for for a compressor . is there anyone who is designing such compressor.

The another option is Venturi Mechanism, which can blend some amount of additional oxygen and serve the purpose of forced air for the patient. Apparently this is not available as an off te shelf manufactured product.

Can anyone throw some light on either of these two issues ?

I think a similar question has already been asked and answered on another thread.

Search for 'venturi'

A medical grade compressor is a very specialised type and should be free of any oil and particulates, as well as having the correct humidity and temperature of air at the output.

I would do a search for medical compressor manufacturers.

John.

There is a similar question being asked on this thread.

I'd have thought a fan or blower would produce sufficient flow/pressure. This is a dangerous thing to play with unless you are fairly expert in this field. I'd think that not much was required as pressure say a few inches of water, but flow rates would be reasonably high...say upto 100L/min.
Don't quote me on any of these figures. I do NOT profess to be expert in this field.

I have used in past Mini Air Compressor which is used by Artists for Spray Painting with small pen type guns. These compressors are mfd in Taiwan and are diaphram type and they claim that it is oil free compressor. I am not sure if such compressors can be used for medical use.

It sounds like a CPAP is exactly what you are looking for. Either use one of those, or copy existing technology.

Nice post, Oxygen masks are effective device for dispensing oxygen that is used mainly to supply oxygen from a storage tank to the lungs. Normally, this device is a mask or covering the nose and mouth are made of plastic and silicon rubber. Thanks for this beautiful sharing.
