Fuel consumption

03/08/2008 10:59 PM

What do you think is a reasonable estimated Heat Rate ( in kCal/kWh) of a 200 MW steam turbine generator and fuel compsumption in (US$/ton). Calorific Value of the coal is 5000 kcal/kg??

Assuming the over all efficiency of the steam turbine , boiler and the alternator as 25 % and taking 1 kw as 860 kw,

The fuel required for 200 Mw is appx 137931 kg/hr.

If heat recovery is considered , then you may increase the efficiency to higher value and work out accordingly.

You seem to be highly technical and it will be a sheer waste of energy if you do not share your experiences .
