  1. Is there any need for temperature control, perhaps from a thermostat? If so, then yes, some form of starter/contactor is needed to connect between the tiny switch currents in the thermostat and the heavy currents needed for the 54kW.
  2. If there is no need for temperature control, and there is a circuit breaker that will take the starting currents then there is no need for a starter as well.
  3. Bear in mind that the Regulations for electrical installations near swimming pools are very concise as to what is and what isn't allowed. If in any doubt, consult a qualified Electrician.

Hello prasobh,

We understand you question but please keep the CAPS off, as it is considered as shouting in a public forum.

Now for your question, ....if it is straight pass system, then your pump and the flow switch at the discharge of the pump has to be interlocked with contactor feeding power to the heaters.

In a way, the answer is yes.

Cheers.

Hi,

I am using a contactor 95A and breaker 100A for starting.According to my knowledge there is no need for star delta or any other type of current limiting system for resistive loads. There is already temperature controller in the heater. We can set the desired temperature ,it will start the heater automatically if the temperature go down the set point. The temperature controller switches on all the heater coil together.

I am conused about starting a big load 54 KW direct online.

So you HAVE got a starter already!

54kW divided by three phases gives 18kW per phase, divided by 240V gives 75A per phase. Damn! I was gonna sell you a bigger starter from my skip my collection of quality reconditioned equipment, but it seems the one you've got will do the job. <Splutter>
