Can you please tell me what chemicals can be used instead of Borax - Na2B4O7-5H2O for treating Rubber Wood?

And who want to sell that chemical to me, pls mail to tuananhnp@gmail.com

tuananhnp,

By "rubber wood" you mean wood from the rubber tree? As far as I know, Sodium Borate ("Borax") can be used as a treatment on any type of wood, but it is water soluble so it will not remain within the cellular structure of the wood if it is exposed to wet conditions (in which the borax would leach out). This chemical has the ability to inhibit molds, mildew, termites, carpenter ants and fire. It is much less harmful environmentally than the CCA, ACQ, and similar commercial wood treatment chemicals. Too bad it doesn't get enough publicity or use.

I don't know of alternatives, but you could probably look up the trade association for the forest products treatment companies.

I subscribed to this tread for shear curiosity, for what would come up.

As far as treatment, it is not clear to me, what is the goal to be attained.

I subscribe to a newsletter form this site:http://www.trada.co.uk/, it may be helpful.

Linseed based oils and stains do treat wood for certain functions, by crystallizing in the pores.

Usually mixtures of salts of chromium, arsenic and other pretty ugly and poisonous metals.

High pressure impregnation into dry wood will get the stuff in in a liquid status.

Or you can use phenolics - as the natural counterparts: teak and others use as protection against insects.
