Industrial things of value?

04/08/2008 10:40 AM

Hey all, I recently bought a load of obsolete store room items from the paper mill that I work at. Included in this purchase was hundreds of different new old stock items such as roller and ball bearings, Rotorx valve actuators, rebuilt Diamond M soot blower carriages, sprockets from 6" diameter to 48" diameter, several 3 phase motors, 3 new Falk large gear reduction units, electrical resistors, transformers, rheostats, etc and even a rebuilt shaft, rotor and bearings for a small steam turbine. I can easily sell this stuff for scrap and make a little money but it is a shame to just throw this stuff to the scrap yard. Some of the large bearings alone cost over 10,000.00 and they are all new and in the original box for the most part. Does anyone know of someone that may have a need for any of these type industrial materials? I would be willing to send a list to anyone who might be interested in any of these items.

Try eBay. I buy industrial stuff from eBay all the time. The prices asked vary tremendously. Sometimes they ask retail and sometimes ten cents on the dollar.

I suggest you split the difference.

That turbine sounds real tasty

I wish you were closer it sounds like a treasure but it's a long drive from Massachusetts

There are a few paper mills in the area but hard to make a connection.

If the stuff is boxed the original supplier make take them back minus a small restock charge It's worth a few phone calls .

Allot of distributors are nationally linked and may have a buyer for some stuff as well
