05 Mazda3 OBDII Code p0715

04/09/2008 10:15 PM

I have an 05 Mazda3 s, 2.3L 4 cyl, that i get the trouble code of P0715. It looks up as a bad turbine speed sensor, however this car does'nt have a turbo. From what I have read it's corresponding to a speed sensor on the transmission? Could just be a bad harness? I think I've figured out the problem part(s). Sensor/harness/wires. I would just like some help and a little expert advice.

Disconnect both battery cables for about 4 hours then reconnect...try to re set ECM.

Does the car have an Automatic Transmission? If so torque converter turbine is probably the turbine speed sensor in question.

If you have a manual gear box?????

Is your car not under warranty? Odds are the sensor is bad if the car is otherwise behaving normal. I suggest checking out a specific Mazda 3 forum. Isolated problems are rare, so searching the Mazda forum could lead you to others with the same problem.

Hi, I dont mean to be a smart ass, but this problem may be better left to a good Tech with the proper tool. First a P07xx in a transmission fault code. The "15" is referancing the Speed sensor in the front of the Transmission, There are Two, that sensor is probably lost its Permiability and signal is too low. Change the sensor. Then have the codes Cleared with the Tool. "OBD" tool will serfice. This will put the Trans in a Normal Mode and all will work OK. Note: I am a ASE Master Tech and Automotive Technology Instructor.
