epson rx 620 printer problems

Hi all

does anyone have any experience with replacement parts for an Epson RX620 printer?

mine is just 2 years old and has brought up an error message that some internal parts have reached the end of thier life - contact epson dealer

i did so to be told that the printer isn't worth fixing

the parts needed are a roller unit used to feed the paper over the inkjets - doesnt sound that expensive to me

then the dealer sayes that they'll give £30 off a new printer (old one as part exchange) - and i start to smell a rat

so has anyone who has got an epson rx 620 had this error message before and if so were you able to repair/get parts etc

sure, they will almost give you the printers...they are in the ink business.

The 2 year old printer is a dead dog. try to find another on Ebay or craigslist to get parts. Probably HP will fix it for a flat rate of £80 or so, possibly not. In time our civilization will expire, choked by broken printers...

I used to repair printers (part time only). Now they are throw-away items. Hopefully most of the metal and plastics can be recycled...

The appropriate fix is a new Canon

You're not in the minority.

I got a five year old Canon 300 photo printer have changed the print head once; ink is cheap because the cartridge doesn't include a new print head.

Two years ago got Canon MP530 my wife uses for school work and I print copiously for lessons etc.. Is a little spendy but we sure enjoy all the features as we wear it out and 30+ pages per minute; yeper. I had and old Epson was about 7 minutes per page (:

I have to laugh a wee bit... We have a HP printer/scanner/copier, sitting in the box... never been opened, which we got for $70.00 USD. We keep it as a spare for when one of the others decides to go bad. At that price we couldn't resist.

I can though remember paying like $1500 USD for a Centronix 9 pin dot matrix printer which was built like a tank, back in the '70s.

I am afraid that today they are throw aways.

I do have a vintage okidata in a box, I could use it then go to lunch and to the post office then may a short walk...as the Apple IIe pushes the speed limit (:
