water jet tools with the capacity for 1meter+ deep stone cutting

04/15/2008 1:30 PM

We are looking to quarry several hundred acres of very deep (80 meters) of hard lava flow and we want to cutt in to a depth of at least one meter to produce one meter+ scuare blocks.... we also want to do it primarily with a water jet system

We are wondering if this ecquipment is to be found on the market or who do we turn to to design a truck or tractor mounted sky lift /water jet system efficient enough for year round production

thak you.

Hi,

this waterjet will flush away a lot of money and generate results to forget about.

Think about a big diamond circular "saw": up to 5m diameter available, so you can cut to around 2m depth.

Or about the ancient wire saw using twisted steel wire and grinding grit: it is cutting incredibly smooth surfaces.

The largest I looked at did cut 50m length and 20m deep, first to separate a huge slab from the deposit (1.5m thick), then cutting horizontal to separate the slab into long bars, these then separating by drilling and breaking into blocks of 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.3 m.

What is you product from this?

Have success

thank you for your imput

The venture involves cutting two story minimum monolithic structures to be holowed out, leaving wide avenues around these buildings that will be later turned into either residential or comercial aresas while at the same time using the surplus material cutt out to build other structures

thank you for your imput RHABE

again the saws ans wire saws arw excellet to cutt through, BUT THEY DONT HELP ME IN HOLLOWING OUT COMPLETE PLOCKS OF MATERIAL WITHOUT DESTROING THE TOP AND BOTTOM FLOORS

My 'product' fro this is a two to three story MONOLITHIC ie. one peice building

Hi Calixmeus,

this is much more complicated and was not clear from your original post.

In hard material as basalt this work is done with drilling and then blasting with a low velocity explosive. (Tunnels and caverns in mountains are a traditional activity since now 150 years).

If only excavating a big rectangular deep hole it may be better (cheaper) to use a hydraulic hammer or chisel.

But to excavate a structure like a building and get out the excavated material as usable building bricks - it is very unlikely that you can start this activity.

Think about a horizontal plane: you want to dig out the "streets and avenues".

So you can get one of these super circular saws, 5 m diameter, put down some railroad tracks for guidance and cut the slots where you want these to be.

But now? how to break and remove the material?

1.step: there is a starting point for each street: start there drilling (25mm diameter) below and at the rear two rows of holes 10cm apart.

2.step: get an expert on quarrying of hard stones to do the explosives work.

2 sides cut by circular saw, top freed before, bottom and rear freed by drilling and explosives: you will get blocks of 1 to 5 cubic meters.

But I doubt if these can be sold at reasonable price to justify this action.

But you cannot do this for caverns and tunnels.

Think about standing in front of a vertical wall (clay for instance) that can be cut easily.

How to get out brick-like chunks?

So either get out the material in small pieces or cut down large vertical slots, drill, cut, or remove by unknown means the material, put in floors and ceilings from concrete and thats it. Or get it drilled and blasted in small quantities (not good (precise) enough for your ideas.

So ???

Have fun
